what if i-land was set in 2018?
another day, another thought experiment. bear with me on this one
i-land part 1 was filmed in may 2020, intro videos taken in march 2020, and enhypen debut was beginning of december 2020. txt debut was beginning of march 2019, so logically i-land part 1 would have been filmed during august 2018 & their introduction videos would’ve been taken two months before, in june 2018.
so we’re only looking at people who were at bighit since june 2018, basically. rip i really wanted to include jungwon... this is so unfortunate.
txt members: yeonjun (oct 2015), soobin (march 2016), beomgyu (march 2017), taehyun (march 2016), kai (june 2016)
enhypen members: heeseung (feb 2017), jay (april 2017), sunghoon (feb 2018)
other idols*: [under the assumption that they left bighit in 2017 due to not making txt, and hence would’ve stayed on another year in order to participate in i-land]
> ateez: wooyoung (2014), yeosang (2014)
> cravity: wonjin (april 2015)
*i didn’t include hyungseob because it seems like he left bighit before txt was even formed (in order to participate in p101 he would’ve been in the p101 dorms by feb 2017… the timing is just too tight for me to consider)
i wish i knew more about ateez members because as part of the older members on i-land they probably would’ve had a lot of involvement in the politix. also why is there something so fascinating about wonjin being 2 years younger than yeonjun but training around the same time as the other 99-liners…girlrock please help me out here with this one.
in terms of the intro/first-episode stages, why is my ideal something like this:
> yeonjun (solo) -- he performs an nct 127 song and then includes an original rap in the markyong sections
> wooyoung/yeosang -- no thoughts
> wonjin (solo) -- no thoughts
> tyunningsoob -- ideal: snuper’s platonic love / reality: some energetic svt song… maybe adore u?
> sunghoon -- he performs with some other flop trainees who “don’t have a lot of experience” but “have a lot of passion.” maybe one of them is jungwon’s friend who recommended jungwon to join bighit
random dynamic guessing:
> can heeseung or taehyun be the jungwon? i don’t know if that even makes sense but yeonjun relying on someone younger than him for help as he navigates hyungline dynamics… i want to say it’d be taejun but they already had their tragic los angeles trip and aren’t even close. so heeseung/yeonjun bedsharing thanks
> sunghoon gets the jake edit except he’s actually kind of competent so people [read: reddit users] aren’t as angry about it
> kai gets the daniel storyline aka he initially gets a lot of usa voters and ranks #2 by having amazing vocals in ground [side note: sookai vocal performance in ground?! OBSESSED.] but then falters when he reaches part 2 in i-land
> soobin: could he plausibly get the sunoo storyline… he’s so popular as a txt member to the general public that i want to say yes!? anyways soobin who sometimes gets voted back to ground through general homophobia and makes a comeback thru his sookai vocal performance <3
> jay steals all of kai’s usa voters the way he had stolen all of daniel’s… maybe hyungline likes jay/thinks he’s kinda amusing bcs he keeps trying to be cool [straight ppl things?]
> beomgyu is also really popular? i’m kind of obsessed with beomgyu struggling with negative feedback yet being very popular vs heeseung not being that popular with the voters necessarily yet receiving positive feedback… what can i say. at the same time i also like beomgyu darkhorse underdog narrative so idk. conflicted!!!
> taehyun/sunghoon 02z bonding in i-land, taehyun thinks sunghoon is cute [substitute jakehoonery for taehoonery? amazing]
> taehyun gets the og sunghoon storyline aka he is just reliable, competent, and solidly #5. except minus having as many freakouts!? wait taehyun would totally spazz out over vr though… but what i'm trying to say is. everyone wants to introduce taehyun to their younger sister and beomgyu is like :/ but i'm the most romantic!

- [heeseung being interviewed] we entered the company at almost the same time, so we’re very close. i think we have a lot in common yet present completely different charms
